Ordination Questions

I am currently completing the requirements for provisional membership in the UMC. Provisional membership is the next step in the process towards being ordained as an Elder. Part of the requirements include answering sixteen question from the Book of Discipline. I’ll begin posting the questions and answers (in no particular order) here as I complete them. Feel free to comment and tell me where you think I get it right or wrong.

    This sounds like an interesting exercise! I’ll have to go through an ordination exam myself (though in the UCC), but I’d love to hear the UMC questions and your answers…

    I’m finally surrendering as well and pursuing ordination in the Christian Church/Disciples of Christ. I found your page (and Twitter) by searching for ordination resources. I’m also in the midsouth, though in Arkansas.

    I’m embarking on what I know to be a long journey, but it’s one I know is right and one God has already been blessing. I look forward to seeing your answers to the questions the UMC is posing to you. And, I hope you won’t mind, I think I’ll work through answering them as well in order to further investigate where I stand.
